Dane

Captain of the Merchant Quarter

Dane is most likely from the lesser nobility or from a wealthy merchant family. He is, after all, an officer. As the Captain of the Merchant quarter, Dane has an extremely prestigious assignment. He has many connections and is invited to the best parties. He is extremely likeable and a popular officer.

Dane takes his job seriously. He is adamant that the Merchant quarter will be safe and free of unsavory underworld influences. He is quite stern and self-righteous with the petty criminals he encounters. He is considered by police and merchant alike to be a pillar of conformity and righteousness.

For all this, though, Dane appears to be a little bit dim. He is considered well meaning and likeable, but a little slow. The goons and minor lieutenants in the underworld think of him as a fool, and mock him for his platitudes and simplistic speeches about law and goodness. His fellow officers think him as a good simple man and are friends with him, and "humor him" when he tries to help out.

He's a "big dumb good guy", rather like the other Royals might consider Gerard.
